Christmas shopping the frugal way

It's that time of year! The time where wallets thin out and checking accounts drain. How in the world can you take care of all your Christmas shopping without being in the red??
Many banks offer a Christmas Club account that lets you save from November 1st to October 31st without being able to withdraw. This is a great idea to save for property taxes as well as gifts. If you get direct deposit, you should add your club account so you won't be missing or worrying about the account.
Have multiple people on your list that have the same interests? Make your gift like layered cookie mix in a mason jar, pictures in a creative frame, or gift cards.
If you cannot afford to get all the people on your list, send a Christmas card with an IOU for a dinner or movie night. Don't over stress! People understand hard times and the state of the economy.
No matter what, take it easy this holiday season. Watch for deals and use coupons where you can. Check manufacturers websites for mail in rebates or special deals.
Happy shopping and Merry Christmas!
